Is daycare right for my dog?
Think about it from your dog’s perspective (it’s not always as simple as “my dog loves other dogs” or “he/she is bored at home alone”).
Consider how your dog behaves around other dogs. If your dog has good social skills and has a good tolerance for the occasional rude behaviour, daycare can be an enriching & enjoyable day out for them!
If on the other hand your dog is extremely hyper, nervous, anxious or just plain anti-social, daycare may not be the best environment for them and other alternatives should be considered.
If you are unsure we are here to help. A behavioural assessment is conducted for all new dogs and is included in the cost of their first day of day care. However once enrolled, all dogs are carefully monitored on a continual basis. If at anytime your dog displays behaviour that indicates a threat to other day care dogs, it will be deemed unsuitable for daycare with us.
Where are you located? Can I take a look?
Yes, by appointment only.
We are located on a private property on Walter Rd, Ingleside, however we are not open to the public, unless you are dropping off or picking up your pooch from day care.
Please contact Jodie on 0432 650 568 to arrange a time, or check out our gallery page for an inside look!
What are your operating hours? We currently operate 4 days a week:
Monday to Thursday, 7.30am to 6.00pm
How many dogs do you take?
We like small groups (preferably 10 or less) of small dogs. This way we can have appropriately sized dogs together which minimizes the risk of injury and provides a balanced environment that is not overly stimulating, or too stressful for the petite and precious pooch.
Do you take dogs bigger than 10kg?
We love our bigger canines and we may offer them a separate daycare service at a later stage... stay tuned!
Do you offer overnight stays?
No, our service is day care only, Monday to Thursday.
Do you have a pick up & drop off taxi service?
Yes! We have partnered with a reptuable doggie taxi service for local pick up and drop offs to our daycare at Ingleside. Ask us for a quote. Advance bookings are essential.
Do you train dogs one on one?
No, but I am happy to refer you to an experienced, reputable dog trainer / behaviourist in the area.
Do you have grooming services at your facility?
No, we prefer to keep grooming and day care separate.
Can I see my dog during the day?
We know you will be thinking of your dog while you are at work, so we provide all pet parents with video and/or photos of your dogs’ activities throughout the day. Daily videos are uploaded to Instagram and Facebook stories for your pleasure and peace of mind as well.
Do you accept puppies? What about old dogs?
We know all dogs have individual needs and we are set up to accommodate the young and the elderly.
Puppies who have had their C5 vaccination (generally by 16 weeks) are very welcome although the weight limit still applies, sorry great danes! We have separate play and sleeping areas for these ones too. If we feel your dog may interact better with a regular group who attend on a different day we will let you know.
Does my dog need to be vaccinated?
Yes, all dogs attending day care must have a current C5 vaccination and proof of this will be required along with your enrolment form. It is also essential your dog be up-to-date with worming, flea & tick prevention.
What if my dog isn’t desexed?
We don't want to exclude our hormonal hounds (lol) but there are some exceptions and considerations:
At no time can we allow a male and female to be enrolled on the same day!
Females cannot be in season - when in doubt, don’t!
Anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated – if the behaviour of the undesexed dog OR the behaviour of the dogs in the group towards the undesexed dog is affected, then we can no longer accept the undesexed dog into our day care.
What happens during wet weather?
Unless your pup loves a good run in the rain, we stay indoors! Check out our gallery page for the indoor space – cosy and comfortable beds as well as plenty of floor space to have just as much fun indoors as they can outdoors! We also have the ability to give your pooch its own separate area to enjoy some time-out on their own if needed.
How often can my dog attend?
If your dog is suitable for our day care, there is no limit! We take regular and casual bookings. Keep in mind that dogs become more comfortable and confident in an environment they are familiar with, so regular bookings on the same day are encouraged. If we feel your dog will have a better interaction with a regular group of dogs on a different day, we will let you know.
My dog is small but very energetic... all the time!
It’s important to analyse the situation before using day care as a solution.
A lack of physical or mental stimulation leads to boredom and daycare is great for this, however, hyperactivity can also be a result of an overstimulating environment, in which case we want to teach calm behaviour.
Dogs can become hyper when they are over tired as a result of exposure to a very busy environment. In this case your dog doesn’t necessarily need more exercise or stimulation, he/she needs a quiet place and rest (arousal levels and aggression in dogs are closely linked and one can easily lead to the other).
