The Greenfields Difference

  • Our daycare is dedicated to the petite & precious - smaller dogs that do better in an environment of small groups of similar size companions. A great solution for dogs that find larger dogs and/or large groups of dogs overwhelming & too stimulating (noise = stress) The outdoor play area is setup with the smaller dog in mind and the indoor space has those cosy creature comforts that they love when they need their rest. We have purposely created a homestyle environment to make sure your baby has an enjoyable fun filled day, along with rest as required The safety and happiness of your dog is just as important to us as it is to you!

A typical day at greenfields

A dog's interests can change moment by moment, so it only makes sense that they generally dictate their day if you allow them. We want the dogs to have options and control (play, watch, explore, rest, sleep, be alone, human attention/affection). At Greenfields we keep our groups small which makes this freedom of choice manageable & functional. Most socially balanced dogs in this environment don't need alot of encouragement to play or rest. In the case of senior dogs & puppies, we have the ability to provide partitioned play and rest areas if the need for less interaction or more rest time is required.
7:30am
From 7:30am and throughout the course of the morning the dogs arrive. They are given time to adjust to their surroundings whilst slowly being introduced to one another, particularly if they are new to our daycare. If circumstances allow we may provide an on leash walk around the property! We closely observe the interactions between all dogs and their individual behaviours, making sure everyone is comfortable, happy & stress free. General dog on dog play usually takes place shortly after arrival and we supervise this along with some high energy games and fun rewarding activities.
1030am (ish) to 3pm (ish)
Once arousal states have decreased and energy is expended, most dogs will choose to rest/snooze intermittently in the middle of the day. Usually when most of the dog pack rest, the remainder will follow. This is the same with play times. At Greenfields all dogs have the choice to be social, hang with the hooman pack leader, or be alone. Rest times are encouraged but not forced (no cages).
3pm (ish) - 6pm
Dogs are re-energised and social interactions & play generally increase again. We play some lower energy ball games & basic reward activities. Dogs go home throughout the course of the afternoon. Our goal is to make sure your dog leaves feeling rested because they are mentally and physically fulfilled, not because they are exhausted after having an overly-stimulating or stressful day!
